Squeee!

I'm all a-twitter because Michelle and the girls will be here tomorrow. I've been waiting for their trip since I came back from my Oklahoma visit in January. I'm totally amped and was getting in my crazy "sisters in close proximity" mode today. Mike didn't know what to do with me. I am giddy, bouncing off the walls, feeling snarky, etc.
I'm going to hit the hay and try to get some sleep. I'll leave you with this gem. Maybe we'll try to recreate this picture during her visit...or not. I do have skates though. I'm sure I could still rock them out. Maybe even with my cool sunglasses.

Poll

I'm taking an informal (OBV) poll if I can pull these aviator glasses off or not. Please let me know, ESPECIALLY if I should give them up and take them back to Target.
NOW. To distract my Mom from the fact that I have a nose piercing, here are a few pictures of Nathan.

LADIES! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
Heart throb alert.

Doesn't he look like he's going to crawl any day?

LOVE it!

Lately I've noticed and commented that every time Nate plays with his toy in his car seat he always stashes it behind his ear...maybe for safe keeping? I took this picture yesterday while out and about. I watched him tuck it behind there... Then today he was in the pack-n-play taking a nap. When I heard him cooing and making his new squeaking noise, I went to get him and he had put his toy up by his ear again. It's so stinking cute I can hardly stand it! He looks so proud too! :) I wonder if he feels around his body later, looking for his toy, and thinks "Now what did I do with that thing??"

All sorts of new stuff (AKA my long post ever!)

Yesterday morning, Nate and I ventured out to our first baby playdate. One of the girls in my Mommies Group hosted 6 of us with our babies 12 months and younger. Nate and I had a great time. We especially enjoyed meeting Easton who is only 2 weeks older than Nate. It was so fun to see Nate interact with the other kids. I found out that he's a sympathy crier! One kid would start, then Nate would chime in too! He had so much fun, he slept in his car seat for an hour after we got home! (Moms Rule #1: NEVER wake a sleeping baby!)

Amanda and I took the kids down to Sandbridge last night. We didn't stay too long, but it was a nice beach day. The water was warm (but choppy)and the breeze was delightful. The Snugli was perfect for the beach - Nate LOVES it.

After a quick trip to Lynnhaven Mall, we stopped by to see Mike at the fire station. Thanks Amanda for taking pictures!

Family Pix

The past few days when Nate's tired, he's been fighting it HARD! God forbid you try to snuggle him in your arms because he's tired. He'd way rather pretend he's watching TV sitting up in your lap. :)

Here's a cute picture of Bosco - let's not forget our fur baby! His bed is right next to Nate's swing and he likes to hang out there.

Here are some pictures from today. Nate's sitting up on the couch like a big boy.

Another first - at about 3:30 a.m. Nate was crying so I went downstairs to make a bottle. By the time I came back up, he was sound asleep ON HIS BELLY. I rolled him to his back (and he immediately rolled himself to his side) and I went back to bed. I woke up to crying at 4:30 a.m. so I went downstairs again to get a bottle and by the time I came up, Nate was crying like he was either pissed royally or in pain. I panicked and looked in his crib. He was on his belly again, up against the rail, and obviously couldn't roll himself back over. After he ate I brought him to bed with me because it scares me that I'd wake up and he'd be on his belly and not breathing. Ugh. Speaking of our bed - it's "The Magic Mattress" apparently. He can be fighting like mad against going to sleep, but once a part of his body touches the bed, he calms and closes his eyes. I (WE) think it's super cute now. Not sure if it'll still be cute in 10 years!

Say Hello to Iraq!

This is my official shout out to my friend Art Petty who is in Iraq! Congratulations on your engagement and STAY SAFE! WOOOOO!!!

Pictures and EXCITEMENT!

Here are a few pictures of Nate in the pool on the 4th of July. I wasn't sure he'd like it, but from his smiles you can tell it was a hit!

Mike loves to kayak

It is officially T minus 6 days until Michelle and the girls come out for vacation! I'm super-stoked and CANNOT wait! They're flying into New Bern then they'll be coming up with Mom and Dad on Friday the 25th. I'm going to get every second possible in with them! We're bummed, however, that the Molnars are going to Massachusetts on vacation during that time. :( Once the rounds in VA Beach are made, Nate and I are heading to NC (for a much-needed vacation) to hang with the fam until July 31st!
Jill & Molly

Cute story - I talked to Molly on the phone the other day and she told me that they were going on an airplane ride to see us in 3 minutes. She is also excited to go to "the beach pool"! The girls are so damn cute I want to squeeze both of their cheeks!

Nate can't wait to meet his Aunt Shel and cousins Jill and Molly. We intend to have an awesome time! Michelle and I may even (DAMN WELL BETTER) enjoy a Sisters Night Out (adult bevvies included!)! I LOVE my sister and can't wait to see her. We talked for 3 hours (until 2 A.M.) the other night. Can't wait to catch up in person!

4 month check-up

Nate went in for his 4 month appointment on Thursday. He is growing well and the doc (and everyone else) went on and on about how cute he is. Here are his stats:
16 lb 3 oz, 25" long, and his head is 43 cm. So over the course of 2 months, he's gained about 4 lbs and 4 inches in length. Mike and I have been commenting lately about how long Nate's gotten. We've even had to move the wipes container from the changing table because we're running out of room up there.

It was fortunate we had an appointment on Thursday because that morning Nate woke up with his right eye swollen, red, and tears pouring out of it. He didn't want to open his eye.
Poor guy

Dr. Ballard did an eye test where she put some goop in his eye and turned on the black light. There was in fact a small scratch on his cornea. It was cool to see - the scratch glowed bright green in the light. No wonder why he woke up screaming! We've got some eye goo to put in his eye for the next few days till she can re-check it on Monday.

I've been a slacker lately in the blog department. I have been working a lot so I'm blaming it on that! Here are a few pictures from the past week or so.

July 4th - what a cutie!

Nate loves going for a walk. Now he's big enough to sit in the stroller without his car seat.

Why am I still awake? I did 11 client visits today and have 11 more tomorrow - plus Mike and I are going to see The Fixx tomorrow night. Where I find time for a concert, I don't know. I had every intention of coming home tonight and going straight to bed. Now I've been online for well over an hour (doing nothing constructive) and I've started 2 loads of laundry. I still need to get bottles ready and I need a shower. Eh, screw it!

Bleh...

I'm becoming an insomniac. Last night was bad. I was in bed but not tired. I probably drifted to sleep somewhere after 1:30 a.m. Looks like I'm in the same trend tonight. I was actually in bed an hour ago but then my mind raced to some things I had forgotten to do earlier in the evening. If I don't write things down or do them when I think of them, I really don't know when or if I'll remember to do them at all.

It doesn't help that tonight I fed Nate at 8:15 p.m. and skipped a late feeding. I have been waking him up around 11:30-12 when I go to bed just so I could stretch my sleeping time... yes, it's all about me. Well now it's 1 a.m. Nate hasn't eaten in 5 hours. I haven't slept a wink. I'm headed to bed but I'm sure I'll be up soon to feed him. Good thing I don't have an 8-5 job where I have to look good and look busy all day long. I have a couple of morning clients but then I can cat nap throughout the day if I need to.

4 months old

Nate is officially 16 weeks old today. My little baby... To start off the day he demanded an 8 oz bottle. I tried 6 oz as usual, but he cried like I severed his leg off when it was all gone. 2 more ounces made a happy baby! I wonder how long he'll go between feedings now??

And another big deal that happens to be on this day... drumroll please...
He is taking a nap IN HIS CRIB. Not in my arms. Not on the couch (which when you put him down he wakes up in 4 seconds to cry about it). In his crib. He must be really tired! YEA!

My current favorite pictures

False Alarm

I could go on a long rant here, but I'm going to try to reign it in. So...I didn't need a root canal or a crown. I went to my appointment yesterday and met with the dentist. She asked about my symptoms and went on to do about 4-5 tests on my tooth. I have no heat/cold sensitivity. The crack does not block light shining throughout, which apparently means that there is no damage other than the crack you can see. I did bite tests and had no pain. I had another x-ray which obviously didn't show much. Dr. Llodra called in a senior dentist to get a 2nd opinion. He re-did all the tests and concluded that my tooth is still healthy. He even said if it was his tooth he wouldn't let anyone touch it. The only symptom I have is the knot on my gum line (which SURPRISE is NOT an abcess). Both docs yesterday knew immediately it was an inflammation/irritation of the nerve cluster. It could've been aggravated by any number of things.

I'm so happy that I followed my gut instincts and didn't schedule my procedure with the first doctor that I saw 3 weeks ago. I just had a feeling about him - he was cocky and I didn't like him. He even said that there was no abcess showing on the x-ray but he assumed that the knot was an abcess. Even the hygenist/dental assistant that day pulled me aside and said "I've never seen an abcess that low. I would get a second opinion if I were you". So I took antibiotics for 1o days - and it gave me a rash. I coordinated with my hematologist to go off Coumadin and take Vit K before the procedure. What a pain but I'm certainly happy I didn't have to have the procedure. Now I'm to look for certain symptoms and call to schedule with Dr. Llodra if something comes up.

Thanks everyone for your concern. I appreciate it!

P.S. If you go to Lefcoe, Weinstein, Sachs, & Schiff - DO NOT USE DR. HORNSBY!
