Happy Halloween

Although Nate wasn't quite sure what was going on tonight, he was leading the pack down the street when we ventured out into the neighborhood. He mostly greeted the wonderful givers of candy with a Hi and Bye, but he also added "Peas!!" (please) many times (at my coaching). We even heard a bonafide "Trick or Treat" on the way up one driveway!

We saw a few houses all decked out. Nate wasn't scared of the projected ghouls in the windows or the big blow-up monsters. In fact, he was downright captivated by them!

Picture time with our friends before heading out.

CANDY! Woo!

First Haircut

It was a big day around here. After many weeks of contemplation, we finally decided to get Nate's haircut. It was getting out of control. He had wings coming out from his ears that really gave him a mad scientist look. A very cute mad scientist.

His sweet curls

We went to a cute place that caters to kids. Nate picked the airplane chair.

The first snip

Not too concerned. Ms. Shalonda gave him animal cookies. Expert move.

Hey look - a kids movie is on!

Now he wanted to get down to play at the train table with the other boys.

Looking good

Squee - Pumpkins!

I've waited patiently all summer long for the return of my favorite season. All that waiting paid off, because HELLO AUTUMN! On Wednesday Mike, Nate, and I joined our Moms groups friends at the pumpkin patch for a fun-filled morning.

He wouldn't stand still for the "I'm this tall" picture. Is it just me or does it look like he's saying "Sh$t"?

Ha ha! Look how cute I am in THIS picture, when Mama & Daddy finally gave up on getting a great picture!

This hay bale here? Yes, I'm going to climb it.

Then I'm going to give you my best Zoolander pose.

Yep - only kid who isn't sitting down. Where is his mother?? Oh wait.

Lemme see...

I'm liking this one right here...

It's as big as my head so it's a keeper!

How cute am I?

Craft playdate

I hosted my first craft playdate last week. We had lots of fun. The kids (with a little help) made trees shaped by their hands and then they finger painted on the leaves. So cute...if I do say so myself. And I do.
Nate's is the 2nd from the left.

Such cuties!

Botanical Garden - twice in 3 days

Sunday morning we wanted to get out and enjoy the weather. The zoo was uncharacteristically packed - the line to park was crazy so we whipped a U and headed to the Botanical Garden instead. Ah, the advantages of having memberships both places...

Random tidbit that happens to relate - Nate loves planes. The botanical garden is right next to the airport so we walked up the hill and watched some planes take off. It was great!

Going to check out the planes

This is the plane we watched taxi and take-off

"Pane!!" says Nate

Lovin' the wagon

Nate loves butterflies or "byes". We think he's shortening butterfly by just using the first and last letter.

Nate loved the fountain. It was hard to persuade him to leave.

Peek-a-boo

Today we went to Tunes for Tots in the kids garden at the NBG. Nate didn't want to sit for the program, although he did walk over to the group a couple of times to shake his booty to the music. He much preferred to play with the toys and in the water.

I love the sunlight shining down on him in this one.

Dumbo

Whaddya think? I'm guessing we're going to have to decide on another costume. Something without long sleeves or something on his head, perhaps?

Rainy days

I can just see him as a teenager.

It was rainy all day long and Nate brought me his shoes and my shoes several times. I finally gave in and got him set for the rain. He loves his jacket! I couldn't bring myself to just post a couple because he's just so damn cute.

Hiiiii!

He did this all by himself. I couldn't help but laugh and grab the camera.

The Cute Thief

Last Saturday Nate and I had a picnic lunch in the living room. Nothing fancy except for the tie on his shirt!

Nate loves the cheese grater. It pretty much stays in the dishwasher because Nate likes to play with it, toss it on the dog hair-laden floor, lather, rinse, and repeat. I say steal because he can be sneaky. Even this morning, I turned my back he snatched the grater and RAN away with it.

MIKE - stop reading now...

The grater-snatching was much better than when Nate grabbed a knife from the dishwasher (the sharp, pokey kind) and ran into the living room, tripping and falling as I chased him yelling "NOOOOOO!" When he fell, I saw the knife fly from his hand away from his body. It was then that I saw he had another knife in the other hand! He's making me lose years off my life, I swear.

Eighteen Months

My baby boy is no longer a baby. He hasn't been for a while but today he is 18 months old. When I see friends I haven't seen in a while, they always are so shocked that Nate is so big. Yesterday I heard "Oh my gosh, Amy! He has hair. He doesn't look like Charlie Brown anymore!"

Nate gave me my first kiss last night! He normally just blows kisses but last night when I asked for a kiss he leaned over and put his very open mouth on my lips. I got teary-eyed. He is such a sweet boy...when he's not screaming and throwing a back arching, leg-kicking tantrum.
