Happy Halloween!
Happy Charlie Brown!
Nate and Daddy
Another milestone - Nate started clapping this week! Here he is in action!
We went to the Mommies Group Halloween Party at the YMCA. Nate was a big hit in his costume. The curli-cue hair made the outfit. Do you know how hard it is to draw on a curl on a squirming, crying Charlie?
We filled up on lots of yummy treats at the party. Nate tried jell-o for the first time and LOVED it!
Here's Nate with a few friends.
We went trick or treating through the Y. Nate was SO tired by that point.
We were pooped by the time we got home. We took a long nap and didn't wake until well after 5 p.m. (ok,ok...it was closer to 6!). We decided we had enough Halloween fun for one day, so we skipped out on trick or treating tonight.
The shirt was made by Megan at Dove Nest Designs on Etsy. Didn't she do a great job?

We've had...
a great week! Mike was off from Wednesday through Sunday and we spent a lot of quality time together as a family. We celebrated Mike's birthday at home on Friday then we went out for our sushi dinner birthday ritual with Matt and Amanda on Saturday evening. After dinner we went out and saw a movie too! We're living the high life, let me tell ya. We saw Religulous and we gave it a resounding 8 thumbs up!
Nate got crafty for Daddy's birthday.
"Is someone cutting onions in here?" says Mike after reading Nate's gift.
Safety glasses with photochromic lenses make Mikey happy.
The Essential Journey - which we listened to ALL.WEEKEND.LONG.
Happy Birthday Daddy!
Mike's birthday apple pie
Mom and Dad stopped by on Friday. We all went out for dinner to celebrate Mike's day then came home for that apple pie and ice cream.

More pictures from the week...
Our little drummer boy:
Look at this smile. LOOK! Click on the picture to see it in even better detail... I'll wait.
Possibly my favorite picture ever - the drool is just glistening on his chin (and soaking his shirt)!
Smiling so big he's making the "squeee" sound! It makes me pee every time I see it. :)

Bundled up
It was my turn to organize the mom's group run/walk today. Mike worked yesterday and played in a golf tourney today, so I packed Nate up and took him with me. We met our friends and we went about 3.5 miles. He loves to be outside and grinned the whole time...well, till he fell asleep. 7 a.m. is early for us!
Before we left the house:
Oh - here's a cute one from the other day.

Laundry day
I know it's bad when I put away laundry and I still have room in my drawers and empty hangars in the closet. That means I've left the folded laundry on the dining room table long enough to have dirtied up another weeks worth of clothes.
Well I spent all day yesterday putting away laundry from last week and washing many new loads. I've made a promise to myself to get this under control and to put away clean clothes ON THE SAME DAY I wash them. Crazy concept, I know. It's one of those things that I can easily control, but when I let it slip for a few days I start to feel like it's too overwhelming. My M.O. when that happens is to ignore it until it gets really bad. Such a mature thing to do.
Well, I've found it's easier to catch up on laundry when I have help. I now have my own cute laundry mascot!
Go Mommy! Put away all the clothes so I can play in here. :)

Pumpkin Patch
Yesterday the family headed out to a local farm for a hayride and pumpkin picking. We had a good time. The weather was very autumnal and we took the hayride, picked out several pumpkins, checked out all the different sized pumpkins and produce, and indulged in a slice of homemade pumpkin roll and apple pie.
Nate refused to look at the camera. He's going for the "far away dreamy" look.
He took a handful of hay and put it in his mouth. Mike showed him how to look cool with just one blade of hay.
LOVE my boys!

Party Pics
Got some cute pictures of Nate at Drew's birthday party. He liked sitting on the bike - we're gonna have to get one. The handle on the back comes up so he can learn to walk with it too. Very neat.

Look at me!
Look Ma - no hands!
Also, Nate always fights going to sleep. I know I've posted about that before. He was so tired but we still couldn't believe he fell asleep amidst the festivities... Notice how he's in his "I'm just sitting here...I'm not sleepy" mode. BUSTED!

New and exciting (at least to me)
Nathan turned 7 months old yesterday. I can't believe the things he's doing these days. He is growing up so quickly yet he's still my little baby boy. I heard a quote once that sums it up pretty accurately - "The days are long but the years are short." Although some days seem longer than others (today included - Nate's got some diaper rash and was pretty much a bear about it all day long), he never fails to make me smile and laugh and just revel in how much I love my life.
I ordered a Charlie Brown shirt from Etsy in preparation for Halloween and we got it today. We had to try it on right away! It sure beats my idea of finding a gold t-shirt and using black electrical tape!
Guess HOO!
Speaking of cute outfits (were we? Yes, I think we were.), we took a family trip up to the Prime Outlets in Williamsburg yesterday. We hit pay dirt at the Carters Outlet. I will have a multitude of new pictures over the next several months with all the clothes we got. I think we ended up with 4 jammies, 4 pants, 7 long-sleeve shirts (including a couple of turtleneck onesies - how cute is that?), 10 short-sleeved onesies, a sweater, a fleece jacket, and a hat. Good thing everything was on sale! Mike was just as bad as me. I'd ask him which shirt of the 2 I picked should we get to go with the sweater. He said "Why only get one? Why don't we get them both?" Uh, OKAY!
Over the weekend we also went to our first birthday party. Our friend Drew turned 1 and we had a great time celebrating with him. I love watching Nate with all the kids. I'm so happy I joined a Mommy Group (thanks Amanda!). I've met a lot of great people. Even when we're not getting together for a special occasion, we still have meet-ups at the library or the park. It's always nice to meet up with someone you know while out and about. Yes, I also love getting in some adult conversation!
One of the things I've joined through the group is a running/walking group. One of the moms did the Couch to 5K program and someone she works with suggested she train for a 1/2 marathon. She thought it sounded crazy, but was up for the challenge. She put it out to our group to see if anyone wanted to train with her by having a group run on the weekend. We have some avid runners in the group but we also have novices like me. (I did the C25K program in Denver a long time ago and ran my first 5K shortly after finishing it up. That's pretty much when my running stopped.) There are several of us who are starting the program and it is MUCH easier doing it with friends. Granted I HAD to get up and meet them at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, but really that was the hardest part about it! I look forward to continuing and I'm planning to run in the Turkey Trot 5K on November 8th with the girls.
That's all the energy I have for tonight. More later. :)
