With my boys

On Friday, we loaded up the car and headed downtown. We don't do this often enough and every time we do, we wonder why not. There is a nice area to walk down by the Elizabeth River and we enjoy the sights and being outside. We ate lunch at a little Chinese restaurant and then headed down for a walk. (Note - we didn't walk so much. I bought new shoes which gave me wicked blisters before I got too far. Basically, we sat along the waterfront and enjoyed the day and took lots of pictures.)

Catch-up Time!

Even if I can't think of anything witty to write, I need to post new pictures. We had a quick trip to see Alex last week and Michelle and Molly joined us since it was the only chance we'll have for awhile to see each other. Alex cheered at the football game on Friday night and Molly, for sure, had a good time cheering also - with her pig tails and on the top bleacher!

Randomness

I have so much to share but I don't know where to start. My mind is always racing throughout the day thinking "Oooh - I should write a post about THAT". Then comes the time I have on the computer and I freeze up. What's going on? Maybe it's like the gym. It's been so long since I've been/posted that I don't remember how much I enjoy it.

I'll start by sharing a random pet peeve:
Seeing chewed gum. I hate looking at "parked" gum or even if I see ABC gum stuck to the side of a trash bag/can. Ugh. I'll change the bag instead of having to see it again. Why does this warrant action when I can walk by the fluff of dog hair in the entry way 15 times a day without picking it up?

Welcome Schimlet!

Big congratulations to my cousin Laura and her husband Jason. They welcomed Tanner David Schimmels early this morning. Tanner was 6 lbs 13 oz and 21" long.

Tanner and Laura are doing well. We can't wait to meet Tanner but right now we'll settle for seeing pictures!

Pictures!

Here is the gallery link to some of Nathan's 6 month pictures we took last Friday.

They turned out really well! I should get the disk with all the pictures on it this week. I'm really looking forward to checking them out. I see all sorts of collages and photo presents in the future! Here's a proof of my favorite picture.

6 months and growing!

Nathan had his 6 month birthday yesterday. We had a jam-packed day too. We started by having his pictures taken by one of my Mommy Group friends - Karrie*. We had 4 wardrobe changes and only a few minor meltdowns. We did mess with Nate's morning schedule, so he was hungry 30 minutes in and then he was sleepy. Aside from that, I think we'll have a great selection to share.

Thanks Sallie for letting us invade your yard for the pictures. She and Jed have a great yard with lots of pretty flowers. I couldn't resist asking if we could take the pics there - it was just the setting I was looking for!

*BTW, Karrie takes all the pictures, provides 4x6" prints of the pictures she posts on the online gallery, and gives us the CD of all the pictures she took. All for just $75. Can't beat it!

We talked to Nathan's attorney in preparation for our FINAL ADOPTION HEARING!! She was great and can tell how much we love him. We can't wait to have this finalized. The hearing is pretty much a big celebration. It sounds wonderful!

We also took Nate to his 6 month check-up in the afternoon. Dr. Ballard says he's growing great.
His stats are now... 18 lbs 3 oz, 26.5" long, and head circumference is 45 cm.

He's eating like a champ. He's tried all the veggies - green beans, peas, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, etc. The past 2 days now, he cries when I give him his oatmeal first (I don't blame him - it tastes like paste). I've started mixing in his veggie with it to give it a better taste. We're moving on to fruit - I gave him bananas tonight and Nathan likey!

Here are a few pics. Okay, just one. Blogger isn't making me happy. :)
